In this photo we see the new retention pond. This view is looking north and slightly east. To the right (out of the picture) is the horse pasture and beyond that the barns and farm house. Water from the improved areas will drain to this pond via the various inlets you see in the picture. Overflow will spill out via a spillway towards the existing pond to the north. There will be approximately 8-10 feet of water in this pond at all times. When the level reaches above that, excess water will spill out the spillway. The standing water in the pond will be used to feed a fire hydrant.
